Company Information
Advanced Inspection Technologies (AIT) was formed in March of 2003 with the primary focus of developing the Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) equipment necessary to compete for the contract for the inspection at the Hanford Waste Treatment Vitrification Plant in Richland. WA.
AIT competed against fifteen (15) other companies including Areva, BNFL, Conam, Longview Inspection (Acuren), MQS, Washington Group Intl. and Pacific Northwest National Laboratories, and was ultimately awarded the contract from Bechtel National Inc. AIT has been on-site continuously at Hanford since April 2004 and was recently awarded the contract to develop and implement a Computed Radiography (CR) program. AIT originally only performed the AUT services but are now performing all NDE on-site, including the PA-AUT, MUT, CR, RT, PT, MT and PMI. Estimated completion for the project is 2016.
AIT has been developing a customer base within the Oil & Gas and Energy markets with customers such as Acute Technological Services, Atlantia Offshore Limited, Bechtel Power Corporation, Betsco, British Petroleum, Cameron, Chevron, Continental Casing, Dril-Quip, FMC, Technologies, Gulf Piping Company (Abu Dhabi, UAE), Hannon Hydraulics, Matrix Services, ISI, RTI Energy Systems, S&B Constructors, SBM Offshore, Schlumberger, Sonic Systems International, Technip, and Vetco Gray.
AIT began performing inspections of high fatigue welds for sub-sea applications for the major oil companies and fabricators prior to installation. The inspections originally started at a single fabricator but as the fabrication backlog has developed, the majors have asked AIT to expand to other fabricators.
AIT developed the proprietary techniques to enable the PA-AUT inspection of the 9% nickel LNG inner tanks for the Cheniere LNG Terminal Project. Tanks 1 thru 3 were completed in February 2008.
AIT has also provided personnel to the Power Generation industry performing the inspections of nuclear reactor internals and piping in domestic nuclear power plants. AIT is also performing the PA-AUT inspections at a construction site for a domestic coal power plant.
